The Black Art Jazz Collective was co-founded by trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, drummer Johnathan Blake and saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, three American greats who are currently at the absolute top of international jazz. The band members celebrate jazz as a true American art form. In their original compositions, they honor icons of African-American culture, such as W.E.B. Dubois, Sojourner Truth, and Barack Obama.
They would have performed on our stage in July 2022, if not for some pandemic. Luckily they will now visit our venue for real, with a new line-up celebrating their 10th anniversary, together with a new album. The new line-up consists of Josh Evans on trumpet, Wayne Escoffery on tenor sax, James Burton III on trombone, Danny Grissett on piano, Jasen Weaver on bass and Mark Whitfield Jr. on drums.
