Arturo O’Farrill Quintet

Afro-Latin Jazz led by pianist and multiple Grammy winner.

Whether he plays in a small or a big line-up, the music of Arturo O’Farrill always has an orchestral quality to it. It’s the undeniable influence of the Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, which he took over from his father Chico O’Farrill. Renamed to Afro-Latin Orchestra, it developed a unique genre that connects styles and traditions from all over the world. Arturo has the same mission with his quintet, which will perform on our stage.

Arturo O’Farrill was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City. His professional career began with the Carla Bley Band and he worked with jazz greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Bowie and Wynton Marsalis. As an ambassador of Cuban music, he maintains contacts with the native country of his father, trumpeter and band leader Chico O’Farrill. Arturo won eight Grammy Awards for various compositions and albums. Currently he releases his music on the famous jazz label Blue Note Records.
