Tonbruket

Tonbruket continues to add new dimensions to their multifaceted sonic worlds. Unlike the previous five albums, which have featured a plethora of synths and electronics, their most recent effort Light Wood, Dark Strings sounds more organic and acoustic. Jazz, rock, kraut, psychedelia, folk, blues: these are all colours on the extended palette of the Swedish group. Ruggedness is an essential part of their identity, but surprisingly, it’s the band’s shared love for classical music that makes them unique.

Tonbruket is also known for their collaboration with singer-songwriter Ane Brun. The group was founded fifteen years ago by bassist Dan Berglund, formerly of E.S.T. fame and currently part of Rymden. Keyboardist and violinist Martin Hederos was a member of Swedish rock band The Soundtrack of Our Lives. Guitar and pedal steel player Johan Lindström worked with Rebecka Törnqvist and Elvis Costello. And drummer Andreas Werliin previously performed on our stage in Fire! Orchestra and the trio Ghosted featuring Oren Ambarchi and Johan Berthling.
