This is the cream of the crop for fans of adventurous jazz and improvisation. Bassist Mauro Cottone is an experienced sideman in numerous projects. This debut with his own band is an event of stature. Besides Mauro, 100% Cottone features three other creative talents who consistently deliver on their potential in every group they play in. Expect a hot mix of jazz, electronica, indie rock and hip-hop grooves.
For his solo debut, Cottone composed seven pieces for a quartet of guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums. So far, nothing out of the ordinary, but what’s special about 100% Cottone is that the bass takes centre stage in most of the pieces. Cottone’s musical companions, pianist Chaerin Im, guitarist Teis Semey and drummer Jamie Peet, are among the most exciting young musicians in the Amsterdam scene.
