Double bassist Thomas Pol can move into any direction with his new trio, from swing to rock and free improv. His new compositions are inspired by two harbour cities that have so much to offer on a musical level: New Orleans, where he has spent time, and his current residence Rotterdam. The guitar plays an important part in the music and brings the necessary freedom with it.
As a sideman, Thomas Pol has made his mark on Dutch jazz and many other styles. He has played at our venue as part of the Benjamin Herman Trio and ZILT, for example, and he has collaborated with the classical ensemble Pynarello. For his current trio he has selected drummer Jamie Peet, a frequent collaborator for over ten years, and guitar wizard Jelle Roozenburg.
