Ray Anderson pushes his own boundaries in his Pocket Brass Band. Trombone, trumpet and tuba fuse with percussion in this miniature version of a brass band. The foursome has the power of a New Orleans marching band, the sincerity of the blues, and the magic of African ritual music.
In the past decades, Ray Anderson has proven his worth as a trombone player, with many awards and jazz poll wins on his name. He has full command over his instrument, but he dares to put aside his classical training and explore new sounds as well. Anderson has played our stage in many formations with, among others, Anthony Braxton, Billy Hart and Han Bennink.
