The Pianolab Festival is an encounter between Amsterdam pianists and renowned international guests. The musical spectrum ranges from classical to jazz and from contemporary composed music to pure improvisation. Evocative melodies from Russian orthodox music are points of departure for the quartet of Pianolab organizer Stevko Busch, with special guest trumpet player Markus Stockhausen. Fortepianist Keiko Sichijo forms a duo with Flemish new music specialist Daan Vandewalle. Also from Flanders is Fred Van Hove, who plays a solo set, Van Hove is a pioneer of European improvised music and kindred spirit to Misha Mengelberg.
