Paradox Jazz Orchestra

Young big band pays tribute to the legendary Skymasters.

The Paradox Jazz Orchestra, the house band of the Tilburg-based jazz club Paradox, is dedicated to the heritage of Dutch big bands. Its debut album Remembering The Skymasters (2021), an homage to the famous radio big band, received wide acclaim and was nominated for an Edison award. The orchestra will now present a follow-up: Remembering The Skymasters – Legacy.

The Paradox Jazz Orchestra has a special relationship to The Skymasters: the first album was recorded with trumpet and flugelhorn player Ack van Rooyen, who once was a member of The Skymasters. After the recordings Van Rooyen passed away, and the orchestra dedicated its concerts to him. The Paradox Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2019 by conductor Jasper Staps and trumpeter Teus Nobel.
