The Once Upon a Time Orchestra is a large, hybrid orchestra consisting of a rhythm section, saxophones, brass, woodwinds and a large string section. Led by trumpeter/arranger Thomas Welvaadt the orchestra will take a trip through the history of film music from the 1950s until the present, in all styles: orchestral works, mambo, traditional folk songs, jazz, funk and more.
Featured soloists are, among others, Zosja El Rhazi (vocals), Hermine Deurloo (harmonica) and Jasper le Clercq (violin). A project of Buitenkunst, known for productions such as XLJAZZ (ten shows at the BIMHUIS) and Compact Concert Club.
