Concert on the terrace: MaDaBa

A captivating celebration of musical connection.

The beauty of the mosaic is the perfect metaphor for the music of MaDaBa. Effortlessly, the group transcends cultural and musical differences in a captivating celebration of connection. MaDaBa was formed last year in the Netherlands. The group consists of four acclaimed musicians from Syria, Turkey, and the Netherlands who challenge, encourage, and push each other to new heights, in a captivating interplay of sound and emotion.

Syrian-Dutch singer, oud player, and composer Nawras Altaky draws on the rich musical tradition of the Middle East, joined by his fellow countryman Ghaeth Almaghoot on clarinet and duduk (a traditional Armenian oboe). With a vast array of Afro-Anatolian percussion, the Turkish-Dutch Sjahin During injects percussive energy, while the Dutch virtuoso Tony Roe uses the piano and electronics to weave the ensemble together.
