Famous Brazilian singer-songwriter Lenine has been working together with Dutch jazz pianist and composer Martin Fondse for eight years. They will celebrate this with a special concert featuring true gems from Lenine’s career, including Jack Soul Brasileiro, Paciência and A Ponte. The combination of the subtle, lived-through songs and the energetic arrangements by Fondse causes magic on stage.
Lenine’s songs were performed by celebrities such as Maria Bethânia, Gilberto Gil and Milton Nascimento. Martin Fondse has been recognized for his richly colorful contribution to the Dutch music scene, and he has collaborated with such international stars as Pat Metheny, George Duke and Laura Mvula. Lenine and Martin Fondse previously recorded the orchestral album The Bridge at the BIMHUIS. The prize-winning album was inspired by the Maurício de Nassau Bridge in Recife. This replica of a bridge on the river Amstel in Amsterdam symbolizes the history between Brazil and The Netherlands.
