James Carter Organ Trio

James Carter sax, Gerard Gibbs Hammond B3, Alex White drums

When saxophone player James Carter (Detroit, 1969) released his debut album JC on the Set in 1993, the American jazz community was shaken. With his powerful sound and his enormous energy James Carter is quite rightfully recognized as one of the tenor heroes and best jazz artists of his generation. His Organ Trio is his longest running band, with which he has already raised the BIMHUIS roof several times. The trusty combination of tenor sax and Hammond Organ is transformed into a thrilling ride through 100 years of Afro-American music, from swing and bop to funk and rhythm-and-blues. Their new album will appear on the legendary Blue Note label.

‘The James Carter Organ Trio is a source of non-stop excitement. The band sounds huge, and charges ahead like a train’ (The Guardian).
