Het recente album van Henry Threadgill & ZOOID, This Brings Us To Vol. 1, eindigde bovenaan de jaarlijstjes van onder meer New York Times, Village Voice en Washington Post. Saxofonist/fluitist Threadgill bevestigt hiermee zijn reputatie als icoon van de Amerikaanse avant-garde en ‘one of the most important composers working today in jazz.’ (Downbeat). Threadgill maakt rijke muziek, waarin te horen is dat hij in zowel brassbands als klassieke ensembles speelde voordat hij naam maakte in legendarische formaties als Air en Very Very Circus.
