Juha
There is more than one artist active under the name Juha. One is an artist born in the U.S. and currently residing in the U.K. In 2002, he began making political hip hop (stressing "queer issues") in Hawaii, releasing the 'Polari' album on Agitprop! Records. Fusing elements of Middle Eastern, Hawaiian, and punk music over a hip hop back-drop, the album went to #1 on the Outvoice chart. He described his sophomore effort, 'The Grooms of God," as "gothic soul" in sound - a fusion including soul, gothic, rock, dance, and world music. Over the years he also received a Fellowship in New Genres from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts and grants from Horizons, SEF, and Threshold foundations. His latest recording is the 80's-influenced EP 'Stomach.' The other is a Dutch producer, DJ and radio presenter from the Netherlands. He is the host of 3voor12 Viral Radio, a programme that has been following dubstep and experimental beats since late 2006 on Dutch public radio.
